It’s rare that I get to share shots that are so overtly sexually charged as this one. Usually, those are for my clients’ and their partners’ eyes only, so I’m grateful to Ladybug and her significant other for allowing me to post this. I like pushing the limits, and I like straddling the illusory line between art and pornography. I think if you ask ten people where that supposed line is, you’ll get eleven different answers.
And that’s really my point. I don’t think the line exists. Is this art? Is it porn? Who gets to decide?
Ladybug is more covered than she would be in a bikini, but I’ll bet a lot more people would call this porn than art. Why is that? Because she’s bound. Because her clothes are lace. Because she’s blindfolded. Because there’s a spider gag*. It’s all very (consensually) sexual, and that seems to be a problem in our society. Click the purple menu button in the top left corner of this page, and find the boudoir albums. Sexuality is sort of the point for those galleries, isn’t it?
I’m very proud of my friend for posing for this, and for allowing me to show it off. Personally, I don’t care if it’s called art or pornography. What I see when I look at this image is a strong woman and a good friend who is comfortable with her sexuality. She *likes* being blindfolded, bound, and gagged. She owns her body. She is in charge. She gets to decide. Not me, and not you. Her body, her rules, behold the door.
And that’s the real point.
*If you don’t happen to know what a spider gag is, Google it when you are not at work.
To repeat the disclaimer, this is a project about re-discovery. It’s about remembering who I am, what I’m about, what I love and what I do not. Fair warning, this project will be posted here rather than at my SFW site because there will be nudity from time to time. Some of it will be of me, some not, some artistic and pretty to look at, some just raw.
I don’t intend to think of something every day and then shoot it, though I may do that sometimes, too. But sometimes I will just shoot, and then find something about myself in the frames and post about that thing, whatever it is.
