Family Dinner

#365SelfDiscovery

It’s sort of rare that I get to have both my kids in the same place at the same time. My friend Beverly is over, and my daughter Kayla (far left) and her significant other, Kirsh (near left), are in from Philly for the weekend, while my son James (modeling chewed food, far right – some things never change) and his girlfriend, Val (near right), are local. Beverly loves to cook (and she’s *really* good), so dinner was wonderful on all sorts of levels.

I thought about doing some family portraits, but I imagine that posing for pictures was probably the last way the kids wanted to spend their time with me. And I tend to be bad about remembering to take shots of myself with people. I’m the person who’s never in the photos of other people (though I’m not averse to self-portraiture…). I hopped up at the start of dinner to grab my camera and catch the moment, and Beverly offered to get behind the camera for me. I’m glad she did, I wouldn’t have thought to get in the shot.

Thank you to Beverly for taking this shot.

To repeat the disclaimer, this is a project about re-discovery. It’s about remembering who I am, what I’m about, what I love and what I do not. Fair warning, this project will be posted here rather than at my SFW site because there will be nudity from time to time. Some of it will be of me, some not, some artistic and pretty to look at, some just raw.

I don’t intend to think of something every day and then shoot it, though I may do that sometimes, too. But sometimes I will just shoot, and then find something about myself in the frames and post about that thing, whatever it is.

All my #365SelfDiscovery posts will be filed here.
