Bodyscape 14

I shot this the other day with Pearl. Usually I’ll go through the shots very quickly within a few hours of a shoot and find a handful that stick out to me and share them with my model/client, just as a teaser and to give them a taste of the work we did that day. And much of the time, those that stick out to me on that first pass tend to wind up being my favorites.

But sometimes, as in this case, my favorite shots don’t become apparent until I’m deep into the editing process. It wasn’t until Tuesday evening that this one popped out at me.

I went a little softer on the focus than usual. It felt right with the light and the highlights and curves in the body necklace, the long, soft curve of the torso, and the sweeping curve from highlight to shadow on the breast.

I often see lines in my art, create them on purpose, find them in odd places.

But sometimes I see curves. I like curves, too.

To repeat the disclaimer, this is a project about re-discovery. It’s about remembering who I am, what I’m about, what I love and what I do not. Fair warning, this project will be posted here rather than at my SFW site because there will be nudity from time to time. Some of it will be of me, some not, some artistic and pretty to look at, some just raw.

I don’t intend to think of something every day and then shoot it, though I may do that sometimes, too. But sometimes I will just shoot, and then find something about myself in the frames and post about that thing, whatever it is.

All my #365SelfDiscovery posts will be filed here.
