Blue – 22/52

I’ve been feeling a little blue, lately. Mostly, I’ve just been missing my love, and the model no-show the other day’s got be a bit down. I’ve not been sleeping soundly, so that’s probably contributing as well. But I’ve got great shoots coming up, and Jez will be home in a few weeks. Meanwhile, I’m trying to cut down on the smoking, in an attempt to make quitting easier. I’ve tried a bunch of times before and failed miserably, so I’m not getting too excited until I can go a day or two without any. I’d like to be quit before Jez gets back and we head off on my annual Fall Migration pilgrimage to Kiptopeke.

I’ve done basically no birding all year, so I’m really looking forward to that. Maybe I’ll get a shot of something new and blue.

I don’t usually care much for selective desaturation pieces. They work sometimes, for specific purposes, but most of the time it just comes off kind of gimicky to me. This one isn’t terrible, I suppose.

I’ve got a wedding to perform on Saturday afternoon, and it looks like it will be a fun one. I’m something old, doing something new, as it were.

And this is Beverly weekend, so it’ll be good to have my best friend here to cheer me up and cook awesome food. We’ll probably watch a lot of The Doctor. And Sunday afternoon is the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which will be fun to shoot. We’ll probably have a drink or two afterwards, which is still legal despite the weird Blue Laws here.

So I’m a little down at the moment, but it’s about to get excellent over the next few weeks. I like excellent. Excellent is good. Like bow ties, fezzes, and mad men in blue boxes. (And biting. Biting is excellent.)

This shot is a part of a 52-Week Photo Challenge, passed on to me by my friend Wesley. Once a week I will be choosing a theme from the list and posting a shot on that theme. You can view all my entries here in the 52 Week Challenge category.

To repeat the disclaimer, this is a project about re-discovery. It’s about remembering who I am, what I’m about, what I love and what I do not. Fair warning, this project will be posted here rather than at my SFW site because there will be nudity from time to time. Some of it will be of me, some not, some artistic and pretty to look at, some just raw.

I don’t intend to think of something every day and then shoot it, though I may do that sometimes, too. But sometimes I will just shoot, and then find something about myself in the frames and post about that thing, whatever it is.

All my #365SelfDiscovery posts will be filed here.
