Ashley, Part The First

I had a new model in the studio yesterday.

I’d pretty much forgotten about my Model Mayhem account, having never gotten much out of it. I haven’t even updated it since forever ago. I occasionally think about just deleting the account, but I suppose it never hurts to have a profile up. I’m glad I’ve left it up, because that’s where Ashley found me and how she contacted me earlier this week.

The shoot sort of naturally divided itself into two parts, and these shots are from the first part. I love the tension and drama in the featured image here, and it might be my favorite shot from the day. I’ve tentatively titled it “Jumbled”, but that doesn’t quite feel right. To me, it exudes this conflicted, tangled knot of emotion that I can’t quite name. I’ll keep thinking on that. For now, I’ve added it to the Figure Study gallery and called it done until I can come back to it.

Body Lines 07

I also love this shot. It’s up in the Body Lines gallery. I’m still loving doing these, and coming up with new and interesting poses for them. I hope I don’t run out of anatomically possible ideas anytime soon.

And of course there was the obligatory Book Club shot. Ashley brought a couple of books to try out, but I was so enamored of this great big beautiful book I forgot to even give the other book a go. Whoops. C’est le livre, I suppose.

Ashley is new to modeling seriously, and I was privileged to be her first gig. She was warm and professional, and a lot of fun. She’s comfortable in her own skin, confident, and as you can see, she rocked the shoot. We got a lot of great stuff that’s going up in the galleries, and I’ll be posting some from the boudoir part of yesterday’s work later today.

And best of all, she wants to come back and do it again in January. I’m a definite yes to that.

To repeat the disclaimer, this is a project about re-discovery. It’s about remembering who I am, what I’m about, what I love and what I do not. Fair warning, this project will be posted here rather than at my SFW site because there will be nudity from time to time. Some of it will be of me, some not, some artistic and pretty to look at, some just raw.

I don’t intend to think of something every day and then shoot it, though I may do that sometimes, too. But sometimes I will just shoot, and then find something about myself in the frames and post about that thing, whatever it is.

All my #365SelfDiscovery posts will be filed here.
