Seduction Photography, by Louis Shackleton

Your Narrative, Photographed

Y’know, it’s not all art and naked people around here. Sometimes I shoot family-friendly stuff. Yesterday, I was privileged to do an engagement shoot for a very dear friend of mine. I met Katie-Rose back in 2012, when she was running the NC Tour de Cure. She’s moved on to the National Brain Tumor Society since then, and I’ve been honored to be a part of that with her, too.

Fun Times

Yesterday, I got to be a part of something a little more personal in Katie-Rose’s life. Very recently, her boyfriend Brad became her fiance Brad, and Katie-Rose asked if I’d be willing to trade that photoshoot I’d been offering her for a few years now for an engagement shoot. Of course I was, and yesterday I drove up to Raleigh to do just that. (I thought about titling this post, “Instant Family Photoshoot, just add Brad”.)

Ewwwww!

Of course, even a family-style shoot involves a great deal of goofing around. I wouldn’t have it any other way. The girls were a lot of fun, and happy (one might even say eager) to help out with the yucky, gross kissing shot. They seemed to have a good time, and I enjoyed meeting and shooting them. The overload of adorable was powerful yesterday.

Nailed It

I’ve mentioned before that I have a repertoire of lines I use to get a natural laugh for fun candid shots, and that one of those lines is, “Give me your sexy face!” It turns out that Katie-Rose was ready for me and confessed she’d been practicing. I didn’t get the shot I was looking for at that precise moment, but um.. yeah. I’m pretty happy with the one I did get. I’m going to have to keep my prompts a little closer to the vest from now on, I think.

I’m tickled that she asked me to do this for her. Katie-Rose has been very good to me over the years on a professional level, and I’m thrilled that I could return the favor on a more personal one. I’m silly-happy for her as she moves into a new part of her life and becomes part of a newly-forged family, and wish her many years of love and happiness as her journey takes her down this new path. She’ll have plenty of hands to hold and hugs to share, and it doesn’t get any better than that right there.

Much love, my friend, and joyous travels.

Journey

To repeat the disclaimer, this is a project about re-discovery. It’s about remembering who I am, what I’m about, what I love and what I do not. Fair warning, this project will be posted here rather than at my SFW site because there will be nudity from time to time. Some of it will be of me, some not, some artistic and pretty to look at, some just raw.

I don’t intend to think of something every day and then shoot it, though I may do that sometimes, too. But sometimes I will just shoot, and then find something about myself in the frames and post about that thing, whatever it is.

All my #365SelfDiscovery posts will be filed here.
