Hedwig House

It occurs to me that while I’ve mentioned a few times that I spent a few days in Philly a few weeks ago, I failed to post anything from the event I was there to shoot.

Hedwig House provides “support and assistance to individuals with mental illness in pursuit of independence and personal fulfillment,” to grab right from its About page. Functionally, that translates to helping folks who need it learn to take care of themselves in personal and professional spheres, including such day-to-day tasks as cooking or filing office paperwork, among many other practical services.

Earlier this month, Hedwig House held its 4th annual fundraiser, raising over $75,000 with a cocktail hour, dinner, and silent auction. And not only was I there to shoot the event for them, but I donated a photoshoot to be auctioned off, as well.

I got a lot of good shots that night, and it was hard to choose one that really captured the spirit of the evening to post here. Eventually, I settled on this particular photo of Don and Suzanne Franks, who received the Patricia Kind Legacy Award that night, sharing a toast with their two sons.
