So in addition to finally having my own car that runs, I’ve now got my own bike. I’d borrowed Jez’s mountain bike and had been riding it when a very good friend of mine, Thomas, asked if I’d be interested in his old road bike. He told me she had about 8k miles on her, but was a good bike, and would probably be easier for me to ride.
Well, I don’t know yet about easier, but she sure is different from the mountain bike. I took her out today for our first real ride together, and the ride was surprisingly different. The handle bars are the ram’s horn style, the brakes and gear shifts are in completely different places than the mountain bike, and just the feel of the road is a whole different experience. No shocks and road tires are going to take some getting used to. And she’s definitely faster.
Note to self: Slow down over the speed bumps!
