Goin’ Thataway

Make lots of noise,
Kiss lots of boys,
Or kiss lots of girls,
If that’s something you’re into.
When the straight and narrow
Gets a little too straight,
Roll up a joint (I would).
Follow your arrow wherever it points. – Kasey Musgraves, Follow Your Arrow

I don’t know where I’m going, or even if I’m going anywhere in particular. And right now, that’s ok. And that song is quickly becoming the theme song for The Making Lemonade Road Tour. It’s on a playlist that Jez made me last week called “Sweet and Sour”, specifically for me, specifically for TMLRT. I couldn’t be more grateful for a gift that couldn’t be more thoughtful. It’s a perfect pick-me-up when I start to feel a bit lost or down or stressed. I still miss her ridiculously, but I’m going to be OK. I’m on a journey without a map, and sometimes that’s a little scary. I think it was my friend Mike who said I almost reminded him of Caine, and I suppose that’s appropriate. Perhaps it could be said that I have a compass that doesn’t point North.

I’m meeting new people, making new friends, learning new things about myself. Some of them are surprising, though some of those shouldn’t be, really. I’m seeing new places, having new adventures, and thinking about new things (or old things in new ways).

Wherever I’m going, I’m growing as I wander, and that’s enough.
