Personally, idgaf why the spider crossed the road, I just yielded the goddamned right-of-way.
On my way up the canyon to take these nude self-portraits, I came around a big boulder, and this little mutherfucker was right on the path, about a meter in front of me. I had to back up to get the camera to focus, it was that close.
I’d seen my first tarantula-not-in-a-terrarium a few days before, as I was driving up the road to the Chisos Basin, and stopped the car to take a few shots out the window. That’s one thing. This was a goddamned ‘nuther.
I’ll say this for them, they’re beautiful and they’re graceful, and they don’t get in a hurry for anything, near as I can tell.
