I had planned to spend two nights in beautiful Ontario at a dark-sky site called Kaladar, to try and get some really nice shots of the stars. But given my rather unfriendly welcome at the Quebec border, I was pretty uneasy about remaining too long in Canada.

Ontario was lovely, but I was socked in with heavy cloud cover that first night, and it was threatening to pour down the rain the next morning.

I decided the universe wasn’t happy with my being on the wrong side of the border, so I packed up Gypsy first thing in the morning, finished just as the skies opened up and the deluge started, and rolled as hard as I could for Detroit. The border guard there asked me like three questions and sent me on my way.
