I’m currently staying in Seattle for a bit, and Gretchen, who I just met a few weeks ago at Sex Geek Summer Camp, has kindly opened her home to me to crash in the spare bedroom. Besides just being a general kindness, it’s helping me to have a place where I can get a little closer to caught up on my backlog of work. But before I was her houseguest, I got to be her photographer.

We were wandering around for a minute, and came across the tree stand from where I’d taken this year’s camp group photos. Gretchen was all about the tree stand.

Anyone who’s read this blog for any length of time knows how much I love to subvert The Male Gaze even as I play into it. Putting Gretchen up so high above the camera was perfect for exactly this reason.

Gretchen was a really great model, and totally got what I was going for, and she easily mixed traditionally male-gazy poses with strong, subversive poses.

We really hit it off, and worked well together, as you can see. I was tickled to death when she approached me about a visit when I eventually headed for Seattle. It’s been really great to hang out with her with less of a time-constraint pressing down on us.

…and don’t worry, we’re not done with Gretchen. While I’m here, we’ve got a great idea about a shoot we didn’t think of at camp. You’ll be seeing more of Gretchen very shortly.

P.S. Thanks again, Gretchen, for putting up with me for a few days. You’re awesome!
