After Lovell Canyon, I had intended to stop at Walker Lake. Someone once showed me photos of it, and it was gorgeous.

Walker Lake, NV, 2019

The photos didn’t lie, and I was gobsmacked when I stopped. The sky reflected in the disappearing lake was heart-stopping.

But it was hot as balls, and there is no shade to be found at Walker Lake, anywhere. The ground was rocky and unforgiving, and worst of all, there were signs posted warning visitors to stay away from the lake due to “unexploded ordinance”. I’m sure there’s a story behind that, but I needed a place to camp, so I drove on, winding up at beautiful Eagle Lake, California.
