I didn’t get to do much birding at Sex Geek Summer Camp, per usual, but some birds obliged me anyway. We had Barn Swallows nesting in the teaching barn.

And lots of Violet-green Swallows around, sometimes perching on the volleyball nets outside the teaching barn.

I saw a Red-breasted Sapsucker, new for the life-lists.

And a couple of Hairy Woodpeckers, which I find rather appropriate for the venue, in a juvenile sort of way.

This little fucker had me stumped for several weeks. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what damned species of Oriole it was.

Turns out that’s because it’s not an Oriole. It’s a Black-headed Grosbeak, and it’s new for the life-lists.

I’m glad I paid a little bit of attention to the birds while I was shooting camp.
