So we bought some chili powder the other day. Nothing special, no big deal. We were nearly out, there was absolutely nothing exceptional about it.

Seattle, 2020

We got a big ol’ thing of it, and tossed the empty container in the recycling. Again, utterly routine.

Now, I freely admit that I sometimes forget to announce when I finish off the last of some thing or other, or that we’re getting close to out of it, or stuff like that. It’s a flaw. I’m usually busy and think, “Oh, I’ll need to get that on the shopping list later”, and then of course I forget. It happens, I’m not even gonna lie about it.

But y’know what I do NOT do? Put the empty container back in its place. I just don’t. Ever.

And I can’t even remember the last time we used Chipotle Chili Pepper, but it’s not like it was six months ago, and it’s not like it was the day before yesterday. It was somewhere in between there.

You know where I’m going with this, right? Yeah, how it got empty, I honestly don’t know. How it wound up back with the other spice bottles, I don’t know. And as utterly ordinary a thing as this was, Gretchen and I found it both funny and perplexing.

Anyway, it’s a mystery, and I kept the bottle to do this week’s thing and I got a new phone with fancy schmancy picture-takin’ stuff on it and I’ve never had a latest-model phone or a top-of-the-line phone or an iPhone before, but because I switched carriers and cut my bill by 2/3 and I could get a major deal on the Mac Daddy phone, I did and I used it for this photo and I’m happy with the phone and I’m going to keep typing until you get tired of reading this sentence.

I’m going to try to pick up the blogging pace, but no promises.

‘Til next time.

This post is a part of another round of the 52-week challenge photography project. I’ll post the pieces on Tuesdays, and this is the shot for this week. Click the camera icon above to see the other pieces for this project, or just click here.
