For this week’s theme I had intended to take a shot of one of the trails I used for birding this past week. Unfortunately, I kept forgetting to do that, and “Paths and/or Trails” will have to wait for another time.

Selfie, 2021

“Selfie” is on the list of themes, and as I knew that could be relatively quick and painless, I had been keeping that one in my back pocket to use at some point when I was really stuck or had run out of time. This week seemed as good as any, as it’s been raining for days now, and I haven’t gotten a chance to get out to shoot the one I wanted to do.

Anyway, I thought I’d play around with my new MacDaddy iPhone’s camera settings and see what it could do. There’s a lot of nifty little things it can do, but in the end I just put it in portrait mode, jacked up the fake bokeh, and stood under the skylight in my office. Done and done.

I’ve had Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” stuck in my head on and off the last week or so, alternating with M.O’s “Dance On My Own”, and that’s had me intermittently thinking about exes and former partners and what I’ve learned from various relationships. Each of them taught me something, I suppose, some of them quite painfully. Others more pleasantly. That’s life, I think.

Anyway, here I am at 53, parked in Seattle after three years of wandering around the country, happy and damned fine lookin’, if I do say so myself.

And I do.

Thank U, Next

This post is a part of another round of the 52-week challenge photography project. I’ll post the pieces on Tuesdays, and this is the shot for this week. Click the camera icon above to see the other pieces for this project, or just click here.
